Need For Speed Movie

I got around to watching the Need for Speed movie a couple days ago.  I don't get what all the bad reviews it got were about.  I didn't read any of the reviews, I just know it got bad reviews.  I really enjoyed this movie.

Maybe it's just because of my past but I think this movie is worth watching.  I went to bed thinking about this movie and couldn't get it out of my head the entire next day.  On my 2nd day and I'm still thinking of parts in the movie.  I'm also trying to control my urge to speed down the road right now too.  This movie will just make you want to go race.

This movie was also filmed in the town right above mine.  So when that scene showed up in the movie, I knew exactly every part of it as I've been through those spots quite a few times.  Was awesome to see it in a movie.

I'm going to have to watch this movie again.

Maleficent

Disney did a great job on this movie.  The story is fantastic and everything in this movie was good.  Took the whole family to see it and I highly recommend it to anyone.

2 Guns

I set down to watch this movie a couple days ago and I actually enjoyed it.  The main reason being the way the actors talk to each other throughout the movie.  It's just comical as they never let up.  They stuck to their roles very good.

The Hobbit

Actually took a chance on watching this movie in 3D since we have a GTX theater in town now.   The 3D was really good especially when my daughter kept reaching out to grab stuff on the screen.   She can be silly sometimes.  Needless to say, I don't hate 3D anymore.

The movie was excellent but they have added more than what you would have read in the book.  Which is probably how this is a trilogy like Lord of the Rings is.

I don't think anyone will be disappointed seeing the movie.     Time was like a blink as well.   It was hard to believe I was setting for 3 hours.  Felt more like 1.  Needless to say you get pulled in.

One thing is for sure.   They chose a perfect spot to stop this movie.   When you see it you'll be like, WOW, that looks AWESOME.  Poof, black screen, to be continued.  It makes you want to watch the next one right now.   Having to wait a year twice is gonna stink but nothing I can do about that.

Battleship

I actually rented and watched the Battleship movie this past weekend.   I must say that I throughly enjoyed it.

I thought it was going to be some Transformer spin off by stealing what they do.   They didn't do that at all.   They made it actually believeable that this was another race, which was like us but different in their own ways,  that traveled across space from a signal we sent out to reach out to other world's.   Too bad when they came it was to take over our world.   They definitely had some advance technology but nothing to the extreme that we couldn't create ourselves one day.

They have the small love story in the film as well but it doesn't take too much precedence in the film.   Just enough to go along with the story.

Definitely check it out if you're looking for a decent movie and don't know what to get.

The Green Latern

I finally got around to watching The Green Lantern yesterday.

It wasn't a bad movie but if you're looking for action, you won't get much of it from this movie.  This movie focuses on how the first human ever became a green lantern.  They did a good job on the story though.

After watching it though, if you don't know much about the green lantern, then this movie seems to be the last you'll see of him on the big screen.  They need to take that yellow ring that was made and make another movie involved with that so it can flow back into this first story since the yellow ring was made in this movie.  Watching him train to become a better green lantern wouldn't work to well for a movie but a quick glimpse of some training would probably help the crowd understand how he got to the point he is.  That and I don't think earth is the only planet in his district to watch over, so he should go to another planet to protect another species as well.

I wonder what the chances are they will make another movie with The Green Lantern is.  The action will have to be bumped up and show more stuff with the ring as he should be skilled in the 2nd move for sure.  Here's hoping they don't completely abandon this hero.

Immortals and The Darkest Hour

Actually watched both of these movies last weekend.  I need to post stuff more when I do them than later.  Time, it's always a factor.

Will start with Immortals.  The movie was pretty good and enjoyable to watch.  It's got that 300 feel for the action and look, so that pulls me in already.  Story line wasn't too bad.  If it's not a movie you just want to see because it's not your type of movie, don't watch it.

The Darkest Hour was ok.  The idea for the aliens was a pretty cool idea.  That person needs credit for coming up with that.  Past that, it's another movie about an alien race coming to earth to take over and they want our resources that the planet has to offer.  Nothing to go rush to watch right now but an ok flick for a relaxing movie watching experience if you don't have anything else you want to see right now.

Captain America

Well, I must say, when I saw the previews for this movie, I didn't have high hopes and didn't care to try to watch this movie.  I got a free rental with Redbox yesterday, so this was the best choice I had to pick from.

I was pleasantly surprised that this was a pretty good movie.  It was not like the last one I saw where it was beyond cheesy to me.  This movie was done right.  I enjoyed it all the way through.  It flowed smoothly, had some funny parts, and it wasn't cheesy at all.  It's definitely worth the watch.  Especially if you plan to watch The Avengers movie when it comes out in theaters.

127 Hours and Unstoppable

Those are 2 movies I've seen in the last week. Both were very good movies and both are based off real life events.

Unstoppable is about a runaway train that pretty much becomes a bomb with the chemicals in a few of the cars it's pulling. Plus there is a piece of the track that is extremely sharp that has chemicals below if the train falls off so the city would pretty much go BOOM if it went off the rails. Definitely a movie worth the watch.

127 Hours I watched just yesterday. What's going to get you cringing and not able to look at the TV is the guy literally trying to cut his arm off. Yes, that ruins a part of the movie but OMG, I couldn't set still and could barely watch. That was pretty gruesome to watch. That should be enough to make you want to watch the movie. If not, it does keep you pulled in as he has flashbacks of his life with how he became who he is. I never really got bored watching it. Kinda hard when he's drinking his own pee.

So if you're looking for some good movies, check this out.

Robin Hood

Took me two days to watch this but I enjoyed the movie. I liked how the end gives you the time frame of before all the other Robin Hood stories take place. They always start out at a certain point but this one is clearly what led to him becoming Robin Hood and how it happened. Shows it how things would truely have been back in the day.

If you got the time and can sit for two and half hours. Definitely worth picking up to watch.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World

This finally came in via Netflix and got to watch this movie.

I'll start off and just this is an ok movie. Nothing you've gotta see right now and I can see why it didn't do so good at the box office.

While you're watching you'll be debating whether it's worth watching or not as some parts pull you in and the rest doesn't. If you have ever watched any Anime, you always look forward the fight scenes as that's where the action is. Well, this pretty much falls into that theme for me. The best parts of the movie were watching the fights.

Now granted, them throwing in subtle things game like in a real world scenario was a neat idea but it won't pull you in quite enough. It jumps at the beginning like the guy is outta his head, so that didn't help either but you got what they were trying to emphasize on how a girl can really mess with your head during a breakup.

The lines in the movie are very cheesy but has its subtle humor as long as you catch it. Trying to tell a girl you love her but saying, "I Love Lesbian's Too" just won't work out the way you think it would.

I haven't bought the game but it might be better to own than owning this movie. Someone will have to let me know on the game as I don't plan to get it unless it drops to like 400 MS points or less.

The Losers

Well if you're looking for some action with a bit of comedy, this movie is a must see. I actually enjoyed watching this. Never got bored even once with the entire movie.

The comedy they used is very refreshing and goes with the vibe of the movie.

If you get a chance to watch this movie, definitely watch it.

Green Zone

Had another movie come in from Netflix that was not near the top. They are getting as bad as Gamefly when it comes to shipping out movies you want. I got around to watching it yesterday.

I really enjoyed this movie. It was during the Saddam period where we were looking for the chemical weapons. The movie did a great job showing how things probably were over there and what Americans were going through.

The action was really good. Any FPS fan is going to enjoy it because some of the scene's reminded me some parts in some games I've played. It made it more intrigueing if anything else.

If you like war movies and got 2 hours to spend, I'd watch this movie at some point.

Death Proof

So I watched Grindhouse: Death Proof a couple days ago. I wanted Grindhouse with the girl with the shotgun leg but my wife had added this to the Netflix que saying it was part of some how. I don't think so but I won't know until I get Grindhouse.

The first thing that made me laugh in the movie was when I put it in. First thing that popped up on the screen said, "This disc is for retail sale only". I thought that was pretty funny considering it came from Netflix as a rental.

The movie overall I was not really impressed with. I almost cut it off and quit watching a few times. I watched until the 1 hour mark and that's when the wreck happened that they rewinded and showed what happened which each person in the car died. That caught my attention enough to finish it as it went to 14 months later after that. Figured I'd get to see another wreck which would have been worth seeing.

Well, the last 30 minutes is the best part of this movie. From that point on to the end I enjoyed every bit of that part of the movie. It took it that long for it to get good. So if you wanted to fast forward to the car scenes in the movie, you would be good to go and only waste about 40 minutes instead of 2 hours on this movie.

A Nightmare on Elm Street

Over the holiday weekend I watched the new Nightmare on Elm Street remake. It has been a long time since I've watched this movie so I don't remember everything about the movie that was in the original.

So with that in mind, I thought it was pretty good and enjoyed watching it again. Some parts stuck out but those are the unforgettable parts. Some things just always stick in your head when you see them.

I think they did a great job of making it look like a current movie while still keeping everything in tack from what I did remember of the movie. and that's that.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lighning Thief

Watched this movie a couple weeks ago and enjoyed it.  Wasn't over the top and the fact it's made from a book makes the books more appealing to read now.  I might have to dive into them at some point.

The movie is pretty much about the sons/daughters of the gods.  Which include Zeus and the gang. Someone stole Zeus's lightning bolt, another god gets blamed and a war is about to start.  So a boy is blamed, they find him and the story begins to unravel on what he is and what all he can do.

It turns out to be an epic adventure for them and they even make it down into the underworld.

It's a neat concept for the way things are mixed into the real world but not quite sure how things are hidden and how regular humans forget seeing some things.

Past that, enjoy if you like a good story line with mythical gods.

Resident Evil Extinction

Just got through watching Resident Evil Extinction.  Enjoyed it like all the rest but I would say it's not the best in the series.

Looks like she's still developing herself and will be able to do more.  They leave off with what looks to be a action packed movie in the making.  Which should be the one in the theaters now that I definitely want to see.  The new one in the theaters now looks to go in line with the RE5 game.

However I didn't realize they put out a CGI movie called Resident Evil Degeneration.  I'm going to have to get and watch that now to see what it's about.

So this movie is worth the watch if you like the Resident Evil movie franchise.

Prince of Persia: The Sand of Times

I wanted to go see this in the theater but never made it.  Not even when it hit the $2 theater here in town.  I finally got to watch it last week though.

I enjoyed watching the movie.  I thought I was going to see a little bit more action and more use of the dagger.  Maybe they'll make a 2nd one which would have to be an action flick but they would need a good story to go along with it if they made it.  Guess I'll need to grab the game to get some fighting in.  I'll have to add that to my list to get at some point in time.

They picked a good cast to play the parts.  I like Jake Gyllenhall as the main character.  He seems to fit the role well.  Especially with the quirky little jokes throughout the movie.  I just got through seeing Gemma Arterton in Clash of the Titans, so I was happy to see her in another movie so soon.  Everyone knows Ben Kingsley.  He's the villain in this film or the mastermind behind all that is happening.  I didn't even realize Alfred Molina was in the movie until later.  I just didn't recognize him while watching the movie.  Guess being dressed up with shaggy clothes and a beard on threw me off.  That or his obsession with Ostriches.  He has a good line in the movie though.

"Hey! Hey, over here! HA! You know what they say about men with big swords?
[snickers and wiggles a bent pinky finger]

The story was very good and you didn't lose track of what was going on.  If you're wanting action though, this is more story line based that fighting.  It does have some good scenes on fighting that are enjoyable but it's not an action flick if that is what you're looking for.

Hopefully everyone will enjoy the movie like me but a lot won't.  Watch it and see for yourself before you knock it.

Old Dogs

My wife wanted to watch this movie but the only thing I could remember about it was Seth Green singing and a gorilla shaking him to make him sing again.  So was looking for a funny movie.

Once the story gets laid down and things start rolling, this movie gets really funny.  I was laughing pretty hard from midway to the end of the movie.  Robin Williams, John Travolta, Seth Green, and Kelly Preston are in the movie.  Bernie Mac also makes a short appearance.  Which something that is kinda comical to me is John Tavolta is married to Kelly Preston but she is with Robins Williams in the movie.  Just a funny tidbit I thought I'd share.

To make a quick summary of the movie, Robin Williams finds out he's a dad because the Kelly Preston is going to jail for two weeks.  He ends up with the kids and falls in love with them.  Not without a learning curve of course and John Travolta is their with them to help out.  Which wasn't really what he wanted and got sucked into himself.

Definitely worth renting this for a good night of laughs.

Jennifer's Body

I'm sure the title alone will make most guys want to watch this movie as it's Megan Fox were talking about.  Well, don't get your hopes up as it's not going to show you anything like that.

I try not to spoil movies but I am this one.  A rock bank kills Jennifer thinking she's a virgin to gain fame and glory by going to the devil.  Only problem is if you're not a virgin, a demon possess the body and eats the flesh of humans for the remainder of it's life.  That's what this film is about but you don't figure this out until the end.  So sorry but it's just an ok movie and nothing to go run out to grab as a got to watch this.

Seeing Adam Brody from The O.C. in the movie was interesting though as he was the lead rock band singer.

I recongize Amanda Seyfried from some TV shows my wife has watched and a couple other movies.

So you might know 3 of the actors in the movie.  Everyone acted the parts out good in the movie.

What mostly caught my attention though was the music.  Especially when I heard the song A Kiss With a Fist by Florence and the Machine.  All the songs seemed like they would be good through out the movie.  So I went to check out the soundtrack and it's pretty good.  I can actually hit play and not really skip any songs as it's playing.  I enjoy CD's like that.  So the soundtrack might be worth your while to check out if you don't watch the movie.
